I have long been fascinated by the unique characteristics of ceramics. There is something very satisfying about watching the kiln as my artistic expressions change unexpectedly in shape and color. Being born in the countryside of rural Okayama prefecture, and appreciating the beauty and comfort of its rivers and lushness, perhaps it was fated for me to choose such a natural medium as clay for my ideas.
When I was a child, I spend a lot of time in the countryside. I felt oft that time has been layered from ancient times in a forest. I wanted to feel such ancient time again within I layered clay one after another.
